Valentine's Weekend

We didn't do too much to celebrate Valentine's Day this year. (We figured after 5 years and getting married, we should be showing our love for each other every day!)

On Friday, I went with Chris to his roster turn-in for the Shawnee Soccer Club. We got there at 5:15 (it was supposed to start at 5:30) and the place was already packed with coaches! We went in and got settled (he is coordinating the U5 and U6 Boys teams) and started accepting rosters. He has this complex spreadsheet and online system that he is using to coordinate everything. We were there until 8:00 and let me tell you, it was a busy night!

After it is all said and done, he has around 300 kids (ages 4-6) that need to be put on teams of 6 or 7. He had quite a few coaches come in with rosters, but he still has several teams he has to create and find coaches for. He has been working on it every night since last week when the registrations were due. It has been very time-consuming, but he really enjoys it! Once he gets all the teams arranged, his job is pretty much done. They have someone else in charge of scheduling and he won't be coaching a team (at least as of now he isn't!).

On Valentine's Day, we just hung around the apartment and Chris worked on his soccer stuff while I tidied up a bit in the apartment. We also had a video chat with my mom while opening our Valentine's gifts from them! We LOVE the video chat function on gmail - it is just too cool! We then went out to celebrate the day with an early dinner at Johnny Corino's at the Legends and went to the movie, The International. It was a good movie, but it was pretty slow and you really had to pay attention!

We're getting excited for our ski trip...we leave on Wednesday! Colorado, here we come!

visit with friends

Last night we had a great time visiting with some college friends. Chris' roommate of 4 years was in town for a visit - on his way to the K-State Engineering Career Fair. He actually came up last weekend and stayed with us a couple of nights. He then came back through last night to take us to dinner. We met Lumpy and Travis & Mandy Rudisil at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. (We were a little (okay maybe a lot) late due to some scheduling errors - sorry guys!) Only one more day left this week - and we're happy about that! We're excited for our ski trip next week. Actually, a week from today I will be skiing! Yay for Colorado and skiing. I'm also excited to see one of my best friends, Rachel who lives in Denver!

Chris Tomlin concert & the past few weeks

Chris and I went to the Chris Tomlin concert on February 3rd. We had a blast! It was down at the Sprint Center, so we enjoyed spending some time down there. We also went there this past weekend to check out the Power & Light district. We had a good time, but decided we were getting too old to be out until 2 in the morning!

One of our other activities this winter has been going to Snow Creek in Weston, MO to go skiing at night. We went for New Year's Eve and then again for Chris' friend, Logan's, birthday a couple of weekends ago. It's a pretty neat little snow resort and it's nice to only have to drive 45 minutes to go to it, but it's very icy!

We had some of Chris' friends over for the Super Bowl - and we celebrated Logan's birthday again that day! Last night I went to a Theta Alumnae meeting and heard an incredible presentation by a lady who wrote a book with some of her friends about their struggles with breast cancer. The book is called "Nordies at Noon." I've heard that it is an amazing book and I bought it last night - I'll let you know how it goes! She was just such an inspiration to me - she has not only survived breast cancer...she has become incredibly successful with her own business and she volunteers for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Incredible woman!

here we go!

Okay, so I've become inspired by my good friend, Kandace, to begin a blog. I have so much fun keeping up with hers, that I thought it would be fun to do one for us! I will try to keep it up-t0-date with news and pictures from us, but be easy on me...I'm new to this!
